Orzo vs Rice
While both rice and orzo can be used as a filling carbohydrate for a delicious meal, they are not the same. Rice is a Gluten Free grain and orzo is pasta made from wheat. While differing in taste and texture, both are commonly used in Mediterranean dishes such as Italian Arborio risotto rice and Orzo Salads with fresh vegetables.
Recipes with Orzo
With a cook time of 15 minutes, this tasty pasta can be served on its own as a delicious meal or help to elevate your next culinary creation. Toss it with vegetables and seasonings for a Mediterranean-style orzo pasta salad, sauté it into rice pilaf, stir into soups or use it to fill grilled vegetables like our Orzo Zucchini Boats recipe. It also pairs perfectly with chicken, shrimp or meat, like in these Beef Kabobs with Parmesan Orzo.
We also offer traditional Orzo Pasta made with durum semolina wheat and Whole Wheat Orzo. If you enjoy alternative pasta varieties, try our tri-color pearl couscous variety. For more meal options take a look at our Pearl Couscous recipe ideas.
