Infusing Rice with Flavor

One of the best ways to infuse flavor into your rice dish or enhance a simple bed of rice is to cook the rice in something other than water. This delicious recipe uses orange juice mixed with water and salt to bring out extra taste. Other liquids that can be used include coconut milk, seasoned water or broth, which is actually an essential ingredient for famous rice dishes like Italian risotto.

When choosing another liquid, it is also important to identify the purpose of the dish or desired consistency of the type of rice used. If using long-grain Jasmati® Rice, which tends to cook up a bit fluffier with separate grains, it can be mixed with coconut milk for a thicker texture to make Thai sticky rice. Or, referencing risotto again, arborio is ideal when deciding what kind of rice to use for risotto on account of its higher starch content and more natural creamy texture.
