  1. Prepare rice according to package directions.
  2. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion, celery and poultry seasoning. Saute until tender, about 5 minutes.
  3. Combine rice, onion mixture, pecans, parsley and salt and pepper.

If you’d like to include even more whole grains, substitute our Royal Blend® of Whole Grains with brown and wild rice, soft wheat and rye berries. Just keep in mind this version has added wheat. For a pasta alternative, make this an orzo rice recipe!

Starting with an aromatic base of celery and onion sautéed in butter with poultry seasoning, this stuffing does not require baking in the oven. Also, while its name might suggest otherwise, poultry seasoning does not actually contain any meat, making this recipe a vegetarian stuffing. Make your own seasoning blend starting with ground sage, thyme, marjoram, rosemary, salt, pepper and other favorites.

If desired, additional vegetables such as mushrooms, broccoli, squash or pumpkin as well as cooked sausage or tofu can also be added with the aromatic vegetables before tossing everything together.

Thanksgiving Feast Favorite

While it may technically be a dressing as it is prepared outside of the turkey or roast chicken, serve it as a wonderful addition to your Thanksgiving feast or holiday meal spread.
